Cecil Andrews & Tjuntjuntjara schools – A Helping Hand
Drone Flying activities have been included as part of the September 2018 program of activities undertaken by Cecil Andrews College at the Tjuntjuntjara Remote Community School, located around 700 kms east of Kalgoorlie.
I am seeking out organisations who would like to sponsor and support this activity.
I am a mentor for the Project Based Learning program at Cecil Andrews College (CAC) and our classroom project consists of learning to construct and fly drones both individually and in a synchronised flying display.
My class consists of seven year 10 students – 5 boys and 2 girls and two year 8 indigenous boys (Twins).
Two of my year 10 students have been selected to visit the Tjuntjuntjara Remote Community School (TRCS) around the 17/18 of September 2018 to show students and have them participate in flying Drones.
The visit is the result of an inter school partnership which began in late 2016 and which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Cultural Exchange.
Students are engaged in a variety of activities including building Lego Robots, Solar Powered Cars, woodworking, introduction to Aquaponics, RC Rock Climber Track Design, fine art and music. Students from both schools share meals, sports activities and field trips to learn about Spinifex Culture, Plants, Animals and geology.
All my year 10 students want to visit the school and participate – but are unable to do so as funds to cover the cost transport from Perth and accommodation are limited to cover two students.
Cecil Andrews College seeks your financial support to assist with travel and accommodation.
Sponsorship could take several forms including train fares Perth to Kalgoorlie and return and charter flight from Perth/Kalgoorlie to Tjuntjuntjara and return.
